Panic and shock and utter speechlessness

So…we just bought a house! And not just any old house but the very first house we saw and wanted. We got such good vibes from it and hoped so much that we could get it…and we did! Woohoo!! It was at our absolute upper limit so if anyone local has any jobs available I’m looking!! We had a little mad money budgeted for new furniture etc but that’s all gone. But I’d rather have crappy furniture in a nice house than nice furniture in a crappy house you know?

Moving Day is March 12th, a week after a craft fair and a week before the next one. Oh eek! I went a little weak when I realised that. Guess what the last stuff to be packed and the first to be unpacked will be?

I’m still a little in shock and I think Dave is panicking over the huge steps we’re taking…home ownership….rates (council taxes)….mortgage payments…..I don’t think I will sleep well tonight at all! I must find my paint cards to get planning. Trying to breathe deeply. I never in my life thought I would be able to take this step and Dave was the same.

Sooo…this blog is utter rambling isn’t it? It’s 10pm here and too late to call anyone so I thought that the only way to get any sleep tonight is to blog about it! Hopefully I will have some pictures to show you soon. It’s a hard house to photograph and real estate agents take the worlds worst photos. Here’s a bad photo of about 2/3 of the yard (It’s enormous!):

OMG we bought a house!

  12. Hi Steph, Just popped by to see how you were doing and read that you’ve brought a house! That’s so exciting – such a great feeling of grown-upness – at least, that’s how I felt when we brought ours. It was a tiny two up two down terrace house (think Corrie) – a real little nest.
Is there a link to the real estates page with photos per chance?
    Bye for now, Alison

  15. Oh, hoorah hoorah hoorah hoorah!!

Yes, you can sit on boxes if you have to, plenty of time to upgrade later.

It’s scary, isn’t it? But so, so wonderful!

  16. Congratulations!!

Welcome to home ownership eh, bills, bills and more blimmin’ bills. 🙂

So you are in the know (because it was only six months or so ago that we found out) you can pay your rates by direct debit weekly/fortnightly. Saves forking out hundreds of dollars every few months, and that way you hardly notice it going out.

Wow, you’ve got lots to look forward to this year!

  17. Congratulations!!!! This is always the scariest part! But soon you will be in your own home!

  18. Oh my goodness, well done. I can’t believe you found one so quickly. We have been looking for three months now and we haven’t found ‘the one’ yet. Congratulations. xxx
